BIO
WHO
I am an 80’s baby who’s seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of “life”. Although I come from a broken family, I was raised by a courageous and determined single mother who showed me, love. As trauma, abuse, and violence wove their path in my life addiction, depression, and destructive patterns eventually formed, leading to many unwise decisions. By what can only be called divine intervention, I have managed to survive, live to the fullest, love to the deepest, and laugh at the loudest despite the hardships.
WHAT
I love to create through words, sounds, and paints. My writings consist of poems(of heartbreak, song lyrics that are usually verses (scribbled), and chorus spontaneously sung(yet soon forgotten), along with the occasional short story or narrative and blogs. A time, long ago, I was an electronic music DJ in a land far, far away and still occasionally create remixes and other tonal ambiance. The dominant creative outlet nowadays is abstract expression through paints and other mediums.
WHERE
I’ve experienced many facets of life bouncing around the West, South, and Mid-West United States. I currently find myself in North West Indiana
WHEN
I began writing poems/lyrics in the 90s and blogs/books in 2020. My music adventure started around 1999, with DJing and music-making in 2003. In early 2019 I began to use a watercolor gift set given as part of a music concert V.I.P experience(thank you, L.D). I started painting with Acrylics in 2021.
WHY
I started writing in my teens to make songs for a band and hopefully win the heart of some fair maiden. Since 2020 I’ve had this need to express my inner struggle in desperate ways and blogging served as a safe vehicle to send words out into the world. Partly because of the isolation and the extreme social anxiety I’ve experienced since then. When writing my short books has been a way, to sum up, my journey with faith and hopefully share that with our explorers to lessen some unnecessary burdens and confusion.
Music had a profound effect on my life during a time I was very suicidal. I wanted to share that saving experience with others through the blend of dance music. I usually chuckle when I think back to those days and sing…“last night a DJ saved my life”.
The reason I paint is a whole story in itself. I would paint watercolor pictures for my mom and leave encouraging notes in random places for lost souls to find. 2020 brought Heaven’s call to my beautiful mother and the distraught “solitude lockdowns” that followed. After months of mourning and creative silence, I tried to watercolor paint again. The watercolor triggered traumatic memories and heartache, thus leading me to find another medium in Paint Pouring. Mid to late 2021, I began to interpret and empty the emotional healing onto canvas in the form of Brush and Acrylic Paint creation. Morphing from the desperation of not returning to destructive behaviors into soul therapy and now a co-creating commission, I create with a purpose. I try to convey hope, love, and moments of peace within my works. My hope is they will bring healing to people. I strive to show them a positive way to express themselves through creativity.
I’ve heard it said, “life is what you make of it”.
I’ve made it fun, made it into a disaster, and made it this far, only by HIS grace.
This is my story, what’s yours?
Let’s make life: beautiful together…
